Brigitte Schlieben-Lange

Brigitte Schlieben-Lange (born September 25, 1943 in Munich ; † September 14, 2000 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German Romance studies and linguist .

After graduating from high school, Brigitte Schlieben-Lange studied Romance studies, German, general linguistics and philosophy, first in Munich and later in Tübingen. In 1970 she did her doctorate under Eugenio Coseriu and was assistant at the Romance seminar in Freiburg / Breisgau. In 1974 she became Professor of Romance Philology and General Linguistics at the University of Frankfurt , and in 1991 she was appointed to the Chair of Romance Philology (Linguistics) in Tübingen , which she held until her death. Since 1995 she has been a full member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences .

Schlieben-Lange was the daughter of the old Germanist Wolfgang Lange's first marriage .
