Britta Becker (born May 11, 1973 in Rüsselsheim ) is a former German hockey player of the Rüsselsheim RK .

Career

With this club she won five German championships in field hockey, six German championships in indoor hockey, three European Cups on the field and ten European Cups in the hall between 1987 and 2004 .

National team

Her greatest international successes on the field are second places at the European Championships in 1991 and 1999 and the 1992 Olympic Games . At the European Championships in 1995 and the World Championships in 1998, she won the bronze medal with the German team. In addition, she was European indoor hockey champion and even world champion in 2003. In total, she played 231 times in the national team, 209 times on the field and 22 times in the hall. Shortly before the 2004 Olympic Games , she announced her resignation from the German national team.

Awards

In 1990 Britta Becker was awarded the sports badge of the state of Hesse and in 1992 the silver laurel leaf , the highest sporting award in Germany.

Private life

Britta Becker has been married to TV presenter Johannes B. Kerner since April 1996 and has four children. The family lives in Hamburg . In June 2016, the couple announced that they had separated.
