Brokof is a corporation founded in 2007 folk-rock - / indie rock - band from Berlin .

history

Brokof was founded in 2007 by Fabian Brokof (vocals, guitar), Rocco Weise (bass), Christian Kohler (drums) and Arne Bergner (keyboards, guitar) in Berlin. The band played their first concerts in Berlin clubs and at events such as vernissages of artist friends. In 2012 the band toured Germany for the first time and performed at the Hamburg music club Molotow , the Berlin Lido and in the Weimar Kasseturm . The first album Softly Softly Catchee Monkey was released on October 15, 2010 via Goldrausch Records .

The second album Side by Side was released on October 12, 2012 . The band then toured Germany with Puya Shoary, who replaced Christian Kohler on drums. Brokof visited the music blog Balcony TV while promoting the album

After the EP Eviction Notice (2015) and the accompanying tour, the third longplayer Cool Fame was released in May 2016 . The single of the same name made it to number 5 on the German campus charts. The print edition of Rolling Stone heard parallels to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and found: "Pleasantly unagitated record, ten songs, straightforward and beautiful"

The fourth album Fore followed in October 2018, which was followed by an extensive tour through Germany and Europe. The Berlin-based online magazine Musikmussmit interviewed the band on the occasion of the publication. A video for Dear Future Generations was also shot .

style

The style of music is described as "powerful songs with clear roots in folk American rock and with a touch of Britpop " ( Stern ). Musical role models can be found in classic indie rock , folk and soul and in bands such as The Beatles , Depeche Mode and Wilco . The lyrics are mostly introspective and thoughtful, but also show psychedelic moments and a search for meaning.

Collaborations

Tom Zenker, director of Der Blinde Fleck , among others , directed and took over the camera for the video clips Lost in the City and Smile .

In 2017, the band released Brother Equal , a collaboration with New York singer-songwriter Random Willson.

Stephan Noë, head of the Berlin band Noë, directed the video for the single A Ride (released on September 21, 2018).
