geography

The village of Bronnen is about a kilometer north of Salgen and is connected to the main town by a local road. The Eastern Mindel flows on the eastern edge of the village . The district road MN 11 runs through the village.

history

Bronnen was first mentioned in a document in 1292. With this document, Mindelheim monastery women donated a farm to the Augustinian monastery in Mindelheim . In 1301 Swigger von Mindelberg renounced an estate. This was previously given to him by his progenitor of the church in Steingaden. In legal terms the village belonged to Salgen. The Steingaden Monastery , the Ursberg Monastery and the Roggenburg Monastery owned the site. In 1382 Dyet Frik von Dachsberg zu Haymenegg sold a farm to Friedrich von Teck. The Memmingen citizen Hans Lur and his wife Else also sold their farm and two Sölden to Urlich von Teck in 1425. In 1426 Ulrich von Teck acquired the fiefdom of the brothers Veit and Jörg Smieher zu Helmishofen . Ursberg sold the so-called Ursberger Hof in 1446 to Nikolaus Bairschmid from St. Silvester zu Mindelheim. In 1447 the Roggenburg Abbey sold its farm to Eberhard Rys von Bronnen, who in 1460 sold it to the Mindelheim Hospital. The St. Sebastian Brotherhood in Mindelheim received six to seven guilders from the flax tithe of the Bronner fields. Twelve Mardi Gras hens were delivered to the Lordship of Frundsberg zu Mindelheim in 1467. Around 1800 there were 31 properties in Bronnen. On September 1, 1965, the school in Bronnen was closed. On May 1, 1978 Bronnen (with Bronnerlehe ) was incorporated into Salgen as part of the regional reform .

religion

Until 1883, Bronnen was a branch of Pfaffenhausen and was added to the parish of Salgen when Salgen was raised. The Catholic branch church St. Michael was built at the end of the 17th to the middle of the 18th century and furnished with high quality furnishings.
