Brooklyn is located in southern Alabama in the southern United States and about 35 kilometers north of the Florida border . It is approximately eight miles north of the Geneva State Forest and 14 miles northeast of the Conecuh National Forest .
Nearby places include Opp (4 km southwest), Kinston (8 km south), Elba (9 km northeast), Babbie (12 km west) and Sanford (20 km west). The next larger city with 205,000 inhabitants is the capital of Alabama, Montgomery, about 110 kilometers to the north .
