history

John Seabrook was the founder of the place. He came to the area in 1846 and acquired land on which he set up his estate, Brookton House . Brookton was the only European in the area until the sandalwood cutter AW Robinson bought land near his property. Several settlers came to the region between the 1860s and 1870s.

In 1889 the Great Southern Railway opened and Brookton became one of its first stations. The place was announced as Seabrook in 1895. Because of the confusion with the city of the same name near York , it was renamed Brookton in 1899.

Around 1903 the place developed economically, in which a school, a hotel and some shops were functioning at that time. The old police station museum reflects the city's early history.
