The Great Southern Highway is a trunk road in the southwest of the Australian state of Western Australia . course

The Great Southern Highway begins in The Lakes about 50 km east of Perth city center. There it branches off the Great Eastern Highway (N94) to the east and leads to York . There he takes over the numbering of the York Road (S120) coming from the north as State Road 120, turns to the south-southeast and follows the railway line Perth-Albany and the upper reaches of the Avon River . At Brookton the trunk road crosses the Brookton Highway (S40) and continues on its way to Narrogin . In addition to state highway 120, the highway is also designated as tourist route 356.

From Narrogin, the Great Southern Highway runs parallel to the Albany Highway (S30) approximately 30 km east-northeast. The road runs through agricultural areas with large grain silos in most places along its route. In Wagin you can also admire a large ram, one of the many oversized figures in Australia. There the highway also crosses State Road 107, which is referred to as Arthur Road to the west and Wagin Dumbleyung Road to the east . The next major city is Katanning .

Behind Broomehill , the Great Southern Highway approaches the Albany Highway before it meets and ends at Cranbrook . The Albany Highway continues south to the city of the same name.
