Bread is a German short film by director Ahmet Taş from 2011 based on the short story Das Brot by Wolfgang Borchert .

action

Shortly after World War II , an elderly couple had a strange night that revealed what the war did to them.

She wakes up because she hears a noise. Your husband is not in bed. She's looking for him in the apartment. In the kitchen she meets her husband, who is apparently hiding something. She looks around. What she discovered are the breadcrumbs and the knife.

The knife with which he secretly cut a slice of bread. He hides a bite of bread in his mouth. You can't speak long sentences like this. Both are aware of this embarrassment. Both are hardly in control of their senses. This is the moment of truth. She would love to kill him for it. She quickly looks away from the plate and bread with the knife next to it. He would prefer to be somewhere else; he can't believe what he's doing here.

When did it all start? When did love disappear Her bare feet splash down the corridor. You go back to the bedroom. They go back to their past. What has become of their love.

In bed he still has the bread in his mouth. She pretends to be asleep. He continues chewing quietly. Then she buries the ceiling of habit. The night is coming to an end.

The next evening she offers him another slice of bread. Not without thinking that he was cheating on her. Last night's burden leaves him staring at the bread in shame. She sits down with him.

Survival has to do with cohesion. Love and war; This is a contradiction to itself. Trust is based on shared guilt.
