Brotia is a genus of Southeast Asian freshwater snails from the Pachychilidae family.

The taxon Antimelania P. Fischer & Crosse , 1892 is a synonym of Brotia .

Distribution area of Brotia

Brotia species live predominantly in streams and rivers in Southeast Asia , in an area that stretches from northern India in the west to Sumatra and Borneo in the south and Vietnam in the east. The distribution area includes India, Myanmar , Bangladesh , Thailand , Laos , Vietnam, the People's Republic of China , Cambodia , Malaysia and Indonesia (Sumatra and Borneo only).

biology

Most of the Brotia species inhabit rivers, a few are also found in lakes. These snails are segregated and viviparous .
