Bruce F. Pauley
Bruce Frederick Pauley (* 1937 in Lincoln , Nebraska ) is an American historian who is particularly concerned with Austrian history . He is Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Central Florida .
Life
Pauley studied at Grinnell College (BA 1959) in Grinnell, Iowa and at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (MA 1961) in Lincoln, Nebraska. As a junior in 1957/58 he studied with IES Abroad at the University of Vienna in Austria; there he made friends with the future Austrian diplomat Walter Siege . In 1963/64 he was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Graz . Pauley earned a Ph.D. in History (Thesis: Hahnenschwanz and Swastika. The Styrian Heimatschutz and Austrian National Socialism 1918–1934 ) from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. He then taught at various US universities. He is Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida.
His main research interests include a. National Socialism, Anti-Semitism, World War II and Totalitarianism.
