Bruce Wasserstein
Bruce Wasserstein (born December 25, 1947 in Brooklyn , New York City , † October 14, 2009 in New York City) was an American investment banker .
Together with Joseph R. Perella, he was the founder of the US investment bank Wasserstein Perella, which now operates as a subsidiary of Commerzbank AG under the name Dresdner Kleinwort . The bank will be sold to the financial investor RHJ by the beginning of 2010 . Since 2001 he has held a leading position at the investment bank Lazard .
His sister was the Pulitzer Prize- winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein (1950-2006).
Wasserstein was admitted to hospital on October 12, 2009 because of abnormal heart rhythms. After it was initially announced that his condition was "serious but stable and on the way to recovery", his death on October 14, 2009 came as a surprise to the public.
