Brother hole

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Brudersloch is a small cave in the Wolfsschlucht forest reserve in Baden-Württemberg in the Kandertal . It's only about six meters deep. The Bruderloch was first mentioned in 1688 in a ban description.

Legend

There is an old legend about this cave . In the ban description from 1688, the cave is described as the home of a hermit monk . He is said to have fed on fish from the Kander, which flows past the cave. The current course of the river suggests that the legend of the hermit monk dates back a long time, as the cave now towers high above the course of the river. More precise information about the period of the hermit's life is not known. The legend also tells of an underground passage to the Hammersteiner Mühle . This is located several kilometers from the Brudersloch in Hammerstein , a suburb of the Kandern district of Wollbach . However, nothing can be seen of this tunnel today, so its existence is questionable.

District

From the Westweg , which crosses the Wolfsschlucht forest reserve in the 12th stage, the Brudersloch is only sparsely signposted. An inconspicuous path leads from the main path around the rocky promontory Teufelskanzel up to the cave. However, the path is not secured and maintained.
