Hammerstein (Kandern)

Hammerstein is a suburb of the Kandern district of Wollbach in the district of Lörrach ( Baden-Württemberg ).

location

Hammerstein is located on the edge of the Southern Black Forest Nature Park about 2.5 km south of Kandern at the intersection of the L 134 road with the 6319 district road. It is 2 km to Wollbach in the south and 1 km to Holzen in the west and Egisholz in the south-east.

history

As early as 1368 it was mentioned that the inhabitants of the village between Wollbach and Kandern worked in the ore mines there. For protection there was Hammerstein Castle, which is only visible today in the remains of the wall . Hammerstein is the station of the historic Kandertal Railway .

With the incorporation of the municipality of Wollbach, Hammerstein came to the city of Kandern on March 1, 1974.
