Well in Aspet
detail

The fountain in Aspet , a French commune in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitanie region , was created in the late 15th or early 16th century. In 1979 the fountain on the Place de la République was added to the list of architectural monuments in France as a Monument historique .

The fountain, which was the only one in town for a long time, was donated by Catherine de Coarraze († 1492). It consists of a smaller basin and a large basin below, whereby the water first pours into the small, round basin and then flows out of this through four openings into the large, octagonal basin, from which the residents supplied themselves with drinking and washing water .

The small basin rests on a stone column and is closed off by a vase with a hood made of slate and tortoiseshell . Four wrought iron volutes connect the hood with the small basin.
