Bruno Arcari (* 1. January 1942 in Frosinone ) is a former Italian boxer and former WBC - World and European champion in the light welterweight . Its manager was Rocco Agostino .

Amateur career

He was Italian light welterweight champion in 1962 and 1963, won the Mediterranean Games in 1963, the bronze medal at the 1963 European Championships in Moscow and represented Italy at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo .

Professional career

Arcari played his first professional fight on December 11, 1964 against Franco Colella, which he lost after a technical knockout . After ten more fights, all of which he won, he fought on August 10, 1966 for the Italian light welterweight belt against the then champion Massimo Consolati. He lost this fight, however, after a technical knockout. He then played two fights before fighting again against Massimo Consolati. This time he managed to win the Italian belt. After two years of successfully defending the Italian belt, he finally fought on May 7, 1968 against European champion Hans Orsolics . Arcari won in the tenth round with a technical knockout. He defended the title for almost two years against strong opponents like Juan Albornoz . On January 31, 1970, the challenger Arcari defeated the then WBC world champion Pedro Adigue junior clearly on points. He defended his title for nearly four years before voluntarily giving up the title to move up to welterweight . There he fought 12 more fights, he won all but one. In 1978 Arcari finally resigned from boxing to devote himself to his private life.
