Bruno Bauer

Bruno Bauer (born November 30, 1880 in Vienna , † December 21, 1938 in London ) was an Austrian architect and construction technician.

Life

Bruno Bauer, who comes from a family of industrialists, studied at the Technical University after attending a humanistic grammar school and secondary school in Prague , initially as an assistant at the university, but then went on to work as a construction manager for the Vinschgau Railway . In 1907 he obtained his doctorate techn. In 1910 he also received the master builder license. As a result, he mainly devoted himself to industrial plant projects and achieved a good reputation internationally.

During the First World War , as a Landsturm engineer, he planned the two factories for the manufacture of explosives in Blumau and Sollenau in southern Lower Austria. But he also worked on Imperial German state factories as well as on private projects.

In the years from 1908 to 1933, Bauer registered as a construction engineer alone 120 patents in a new reinforced concrete technology, such as for the Bauer steel frame construction or the Bauer rail .

Because of his Jewish origins, his office in Vienna's Mariahilfer Strasse was closed after the “Anschluss” of Austria and he had to emigrate to London. According to his brother, he died as a result of a serious operation on December 21, 1938 in London.
