Bruno Johnke

Bruno A. Johnke (born June 19, 1906 in Berlin , † August 3, 2007 in Pensacola , Florida ) was a German gymnast.

Athletic career

Johnke was a competitive gymnast himself, represented the Berlin city team and took part in German gymnastics championships . In 1932 he reached a 7th place at the 4th German apparatus gymnastics championships in Berlin in front of 10,000 spectators.

Trainer

In 1936 he coached the Egyptian national team in gymnastics at the Olympic Games in Berlin. He later worked as a coach in the United States , assuming citizenship in 1958. In 1970 he was inducted into the United States Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
