Bruno Schulz (medalist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bruno Schulz (* 1940 in Karlsruhe ) is a German master engraver , medalist and entrepreneur in the field of wood carving .

Life

Bruno Schulz completed his training as an engraver up to the master's examination. From 1962 he ran a studio in Frankfurt am Main , later in Trier and from 1978 in his hometown Karlsruhe, where he became co-owner of a shop for wood carvings, especially Christmas cribs and other Christian art . From Karlsruhe, Schulz also worked as a sought-after medalist and portraitist “for almost all medal publishers and mints active at the time ”.

One of his medals , a portrait of Hans Christian Andersen from the Mint Deschler in Munich, with the artist's signature BS , was - with the misspelled name Bruno Schultz - part of the exhibition catalog of the XV. FIDEM exhibition in Helsinki .

From 1990 onwards, Bruno Schulz largely gave up his activities as a medalist and since then has largely dealt with Christian topics himself.
