Bruno Schulz (oceanographer)

Bruno Claus Heinrich Schulz (* 1888 ; † 1944 ) was a German oceanographer .

Schulz received his doctorate and became a hydrograph at the Deutsche Seewarte in Hamburg. In 1911 he undertook a research trip on board SMS Möwe . From October 1915 to September 1918 he carried out hydrographic surveys on the Flemish coast. In 1926 he became honorary professor at the University of Hamburg and in 1938 full professor of oceanography there. During the time of National Socialism he was employed by the Reich Ministry of Food and Agriculture , the State Institute for Hydrology and Main Leveling .

In 1941 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .

His writings are mainly devoted to hydrographic studies in the North and Baltic Seas .
