Bryan R. Wilson

Bryan Ronald Wilson (born June 25, 1926 in Leeds , † October 9, 2004 in Middleton Stoney , Oxfordshire ) was a British sociologist of religion . He was a lecturer at All Souls College and Associate Professor of Sociology at Oxford University . From 1971 to 1975 he was President of the International Society for the Sociology of Religion. In 1994 he was elected a member ( Fellow ) of the British Academy .

The focus of his research was on so-called sects and new religious movements .

One of his final works is an analysis of the religious doctrine and doctrine of Scientology .
