Bryum algovicum is a moss from the kind of Birnmoose ( Bryum ).
features
The plants reach a height of 1 cm. The stems are leafy in rosettes, have a rhizoid felt and form dense lawns. The leaflets are lanceolate and have a broad leaf border made up of elongated cells. The leaf margin is rolled up. The cell network of the leaflets is rhombic. The leaf vein ends in a toothed point.
The capsule is elongated, egg-shaped, nods and stands on a 1 to 2 cm long, brownish seta .
The species is very rich in shape and tends to hybridize with other species. It differs from similar species by the inner peristome with numerous longitudinal walls.
Occurrence
The species is native and widespread in Eurasia and North America. The specific epithet indicates occurrence in the Allgäu . It grows on sandy soils and in crevices.
