Bryum alpinum is a moss from the genus pear moss( Bryum ).
features
The species forms conspicuously golden green or shiny dark red pads that are up to 4 cm high. The leaflets are lanceolate and have no border. The rib ends in front of or in the broadly lanceolate leaf tip. In the upper half of the leaf, the cells are elongated rhombic, in the lower half are short rectangular and reddish.
The capsule is pear-shaped, red and nodding. It stands on a seta that is also red .
Occurrence
The species is native to Europe, North America, Africa and Asia. It grows on damp rocks in the lime-free mountains. It is also very rarely found in the lowlands, here on wet sand.
