The Buckley River is a river in the west of the Australian state of Queensland and in the eastern Northern Territory . It does not have water all year round.

River course

The river has its source at the Mount Kelly Mine , west of the Waggaboonyah Range in Queensland. It flows southwest, passes under the Barkly Highway at Flora and is diverted to the west by the Pilpah Range . West of Old Wooroona , the Buckley River crosses the Northern Territory border and flows into the Georgina River at Austral Downs .
