Buddy Wentworth
James Wilfred "Buddy" Wentworth (* 17th January 1937 in Kimberley , South Africa ; † 4. June 2014 in Windhoek ) was a Namibian politician of SWAPO . He was a member of the Constituent Assembly of Namibia from 1989 to 1990 . He was then a member of the National Assembly until 2005 .
Wentworth was one of the longest-serving vice ministers in the country's history until he retired in 2005. He held this position in the various ministries of education .
Wentworth moved from South Africa to Rehoboth in 1970 as a teacher and was then headmaster in Swakopmund . In 1972 he joined SWAPO. He was also the founding director of the Franco-Namibian Cultural Center in Windhoek and headed the UNESCO commission in the country. Wentworth had several tertiary education degrees as a teacher.
Wentworth was a practicing Muslim and had ten children with his first wife. He was holder of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques .
