Budka Suflera (German: Budka = shack or cottage; sufler = prompter , so: prompter) is a Polish rock band.
history
The band, founded in Lublin , has officially existed since 1974, when a cover version of the hit Ain't No Sunshine by Bill Withers , entitled Sen o dolinie , was released. However, the beginnings go back to 1969. It was then that singer Krzysztof Cugowski, guitarist Krzysztof Brozi and bassist Janusz Pędzisz began. Soon the drummer Jacek Grün joined them and they played blues and covered John Mayall , Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin . This was followed by productions on Polish radio and live performances at local events. However, one record did not materialize and the group broke up again. However, Cugowski did not give up and put together a new band whose line-up changed frequently over the next few years.
In 1976 the band took part in the Dresden International Schlager Festival and appeared in rund , the youth program on GDR television . In the 1980s and 1990s Budka Suflera worked with the singer Urszula , who started her career in this way. The band gave concerts around the world and traveled to the United States in early 2000 to record .
In 2014 the band announced their breakup at the end of the year.
Budka Suflera's musical oeuvre is now fully available on CD.
