The Buettner Peak is a secondary summit of Mount Murphy -Massivs in the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . It rises halfway up the north face of the Roos Glacier in the northwestern part of the massif.

The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1976 after Robert J. Buettner (1914–1975), who worked for the logistics company Holmes & Narver from Los Angeles was active in five campaigns in the United States Antarctic Program in Antarctica from 1969 to 1974 .
