Philippe Bugalski (born June 12, 1963 in Busset , † August 10, 2012 in Vichy ) was a French rally driver .

Career

Bugalski brought the first victories on Citroën in the group N . From 1984 to 2003 he was a rally driver in world championship races. He won the French rally championship title in 1998 and 1999. At the height of his career he was employed by Citroën as a specialist in asphalt rallies in the World Rally Championship . He managed to win two World Championship races in 1999 with the Citroën Xsara Kit Car (class F2). In 2001 Bugalski was able to win the Rallye Deutschland in the Citroën Xsara WRC , which was held for the first time in its current form, but was not yet a world championship run.

After he retired from active rallying in the 2003 season and founded his own Automeca Solutions rally team, he continued to work as a test driver. Among other things, he helped develop the current Citroën DS3 WRC in 2010 .

Bugalski fell while cutting branches from a tree on August 10, 2012 and suffered fatal injuries.
