Henderson bugs
Bugs Henderson (* 10. October 1943 as Buddy Henderson in Palm Springs , California , † 8. March 2012 in Palm Springs) was an American blues - guitarist and singer .
Life
Henderson grew up in Tyler, Texas . He started playing the guitar at the age of six and formed his first band called The Sensores when he was 16 . However, the music did not enable him to make a living and so he worked in a record store and later as a studio musician. In 1966 he joined the formation Mouse and the Traps before founding his own band The Shuffle Kings in Fort Worth . He lived in Garland with his family . He was the father of four children. He also had his greatest successes with The Shuffle Kings . In Europe, the band mostly appeared as a trio ( guitar , drums , bass ). In the USA it was often supplemented by a keyboardist . Henderson coined the newer Texas blues .
Act
At the beginning of his musical career, Henderson played progressive rock as with Mouse and the Traps and as a studio musician. Country also came as a studio musician. At the beginning of the 1970s he increasingly oriented himself towards the blues in which he finally found his musical home. Freddie King , a representative of the so-called "electric blues" who emphasized the electric guitar, became his mentor. Henderson was always more popular in Europe - especially in Germany and Austria, where he often appeared at festivals - than in his native Texas. Henderson played with musicians such as BB King , Eric Clapton , Ted Nugent , Muddy Waters , Stevie Ray Vaughan and Don Wise . The big commercial breakthrough never came. However, the live performances ensured him a loyal fan base, especially in Europe. Especially the first album At Last, a live recording from Texas with partly very idiosyncratic interpretations by Elvis Presley - founded its success.
