The Association of Military and Police Riflemen e. V. (BDMP) was founded as a shooting sports club on August 11, 1979 in Paderborn .

history

Originally the members of the BDMP e. V. mainly made up of active soldiers and reservists of the German Armed Forces , police and federal border police officers as well as members of customs and judicial authorities who used the weapon constantly for professional reasons. Sport shooters outside the named group of people were initially only included in the BDMP e. V. accepted if they have two advocates from the above-mentioned group of people who do not necessarily also belong to the BDMP e. V. had to belong.

After the new Weapons Act came into force , the BDMP e. V. in October 2003 its recognition as a shooting sports association according to §15 WaffG and the approval of the sports regulations. The BDMP e. V. has around 34,000 members (as of 2020).

construction

Organizationally, the BDMP e. V. divided into individual regional associations. In contrast to other associations, the athletes are direct members of the BDMP e. V. and therefore do not need a separate association membership z. B. in a shooting club. Most of the members of the BDMP e. V. can be found in so-called shooting sports performance groups (SLGn), which often result from professional work with the weapon or from membership of another shooting sports club. There are in the BDMP e. V. but also many individual members who do not belong to any SLG. The communication between the association and the SLGs, respectively with the members not organized in SLGs, takes place mainly via the association magazine "V 0 ", in which all relevant information on disciplines, national and international competitions, results etc. is published. But the Internet is also used by the Bundesverband BDMP e. V., its regional associations and its SLGs are used intensively for communication.
