The World Forum on the Future of Sport Shooting Activities (WFSA) is an association of 35 hunting , shooting and gun collecting associations as well as various groups from the arms trade and industry . The WFSA is one of the few recognized non-governmental organizations that has been invited to speak at all five UN conferences on small arms .

Goal setting

According to the company, the main goal is to support scientific studies, to maintain, promote and protect shooting sports activities on all continents.

profile

Four sub-committees carry out the work of the WFSA:

Legislative Sub-Committee

This committee contributed to all five UN small arms conferences ( United Nations Conference on the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in all its Aspects ). It develops solutions for the marking and identification of firearms in order to prevent the illegal arms trade. It tries to find an international definition of firearms and antique weapons in order to separate legal from illegal possession .

Image Sub-Committee

This committee is supposed to convey and publicize the positive aspect of shooting. For this reason, an ambassador is elected annually to represent this. The ambassadors include a. Chiara Cainero , Superindent Colin Greenwood, Wilbur Smith , Sir Jackie Stewart , Garry Breitkreuz (Member of Parliament CA) and Ugo Gussali Beretta .

Environment Sub-Committee

This committee deals with environmental protection , the conservation of biodiversity , research into the consequences of shooting with lead ammunition in the area and on the shooting ranges and monitors international treaties that can affect hunting and shooting sports and biological diversity.

Statistics Sub-Committee

This committee compiles information that it claims to contain “statistical myths and pseudo-statistical facts” that are directed against hunters and shooters. In addition, data is sought that should show the actual number of hunters and shooters, as well as statistics that should prove the economic advantage of hunters and shooters.

Club history

Manufacturers of hunting and sporting weapons, gun rights organizations, dealers, rifle and hunting associations meet annually at the International Arms Exhibition (IWA) in Nuremberg. In 1996 they initiated the establishment of the umbrella organization WFSA.

Since 2002 the WFSA has been an NGO with consultant status at the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations ( ECOSOC ). Since 2001, the WFSA, like the NGO International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA), has been invited to all UN small arms conferences with speeches and participates in the national and international preparations (PrepCom) for the next conference.

The WFSA strives for a spin-off of private firearms from the definition of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW).

With 100 million members in the affiliated organizations, the WFSA has become the international gun lobby for private gun ownership.
