The Ramsauergymnasium , officially called Bundesgymnasium und Bundesrealgymnasium Linz, Ramsauerstraße , is one of the 15 general education colleges in the Upper Austrian capital Linz and is located in the Bindermichl district . The street in which the school is located today was named after Johann Georg Ramsauer , who discovered the Iron Age burial ground in Hallstatt in 1846 . 719 students are currently (2016/2017) taught by around 70 teachers in 30 classes.

history

Hummelhof

In September 1957, dislocated (relocated) classes of the BRG Linz, Khevenhüllerstrasse, were established for the first time in the “Hummelhof” on Maderspergerstrasse. The Hummelhof was first mentioned in a document in 1321. In just under four months, it was converted from an agricultural building with cow, horse and pig stables and a hayloft to an 8-class school. Richard Hemmelmayr became provisional director.

On January 11, 1961, the school part became independent and became the 2nd Bundesgymnasium Linz, and Richard Hemmelmayr was appointed director.

New construction on Ramsauerstraße

In 1962 the school on Ramsauerstraße / Landwiedstraße was rebuilt. This is where the Hamoder farm stood, which was bombed on December 27, 1944 during an air raid on Linz. The architects Rüdiger Stelzer and Walter Hutter were commissioned with the construction. The construction time was a little over three years (March 8, 1965 to April 18, 1968).

After the retirement of Director HR Hemmelmayr, HR Mag. Dietmar Kagerer took over as head (1977–1987).

On October 12, 1988, Norbert Schaller took over the management of the school. In 1989 the official name of the school was changed to "Bundesgymnasium und Bundesrealgymnasium 4020 Linz, Ramsauerstraße 94".

In July 1997 the grammar school was completely renovated for around 90 million schillings . A new assembly hall was also built.

In the 1998/1999 school year, the two autonomous school forms Network and Bell 'arti were set up and the EURO Gymnasium trial , in which French is taught from the 3rd grade, was started.

In 2004 the Bell 'arti Academy was opened.

On January 1st 2010 Manfred Mollnhuber took over the management of the school.

General

The Ramsauergymnasium has been very well equipped since the renovation in 1997. There are two modern IT rooms available, which are mainly used in the network branch. A science center with new biology , physics and chemistry rooms was set up on the third floor . Also on the third floor is the arts center with music , drawing and work rooms, and there is a football , beach volleyball and hard court.

School types

The school offers three branches:

Network

In this branch, the emphasis is placed on a complementary computer science education, which is also integrated across disciplines. Mathematics is also increasingly taught. Compulsory elective and optional subjects in computer science complete the offer. This branch is also continued in the upper school with notebook classes.

Euro

This type of school offers increased language training with a second living foreign language (French) from the 3rd grade and Latin from the 5th grade. European history, culture and politics are also increasingly taught.

Bell 'Arti

This type of school has a musical and creative focus. Art education and music are increasingly taught, and special emphasis is placed on training for each school level. Additional musical and creative skills are encouraged in elective subjects and non-binding exercises (e.g. in the art workshop ).

For this type of school, in addition to the AHS entrance qualification, a separate entrance examination must be completed, which assesses artistic talent.
