Federal Association of Careers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bundesverband der Berufsbetreuer (BdB) is a professional representation for associations , authorities and independent carers in Germany .

history

The association was founded in 1994 as part of the new care law in Hamburg . The number of members has since increased from 100 to around 6,800. This makes the BdB the largest representative of the profession of “professional carer”. It represents the common interests of its members vis-à-vis the state and the public .

aims

The association is committed to quality development and assurance in care work, including through the introduction of a quality register in 2006. The quality register is an instrument of the Bundesverband der Berufsbetreuer e. V. (BdB), with which supervisors can prove and present the quality of their work. Caring for people is a responsible task, but there are no legal requirements for the quality of care. For this reason, the BdB developed its own initiative and introduced the quality register in October 2006. Anyone wishing to be entered in the register must meet specified criteria, compliance with which is regularly checked. This includes the recognition of ethical guidelines, regular training activities as well as adequate equipment for carrying out the work, such as an office room in which discussions with clients can be conducted undisturbed. Independent professional supervisors and supervisory associations can be entered in the register regardless of membership in the BdB. The quality register serves district courts, authorities and people who need supervision or assistance as an information platform for the qualification of the supervisor. Since 2006, around 600 professional carers and care associations have been entered in the register, the functions and possibilities of which are continuously being expanded by the BdB. The quality register also helps to professionalise the care profession and to secure it in the long term.

Against the background of the professional interest representation of its members, the association has set itself the goal of

  • Establish “job supervisor” as a recognized profession
  • to secure appropriate conditions for the members to exercise their profession in the dispute and negotiation with the political parties and the legislature
  • Develop and implement quality standards
  • to develop a training concept
  • Organize further training measures
  • the performance of professional care in the public and in the political arena show
  • to represent material interests
  • to conduct a dialogue with science and professional associations
  • to promote the exchange of experiences among the members

organization

The association consists of 16 regional groups that independently organize advanced training and general meetings, coordinate their political work and participate in the BdB's nationwide campaigns. Each regional group provides its own contact persons and delegates for the Federal Assembly.

Members can take advantage of free legal advice . The federal association cooperates with service partners and is also involved in the further development of support software (BdB at work). In addition, the BdB organizes public campaigns and maintains nationwide contacts with the media and politics . One example of this is the “ Remuneration is worth more!” Campaign , in the context of which the BdB and its regional associations carried out an action in which the representatives of the regional justice ministries were given protest notes. The aim of the campaign was to achieve adequate remuneration for care work.

The association now has over 6,800 members.

The chairpersons are Thorsten Becker (chairman), Hennes Göers (deputy chairman) and Rainer Sobota (deputy chairman).

activities

The association magazine "BdBAspekte" appears four times a year with a circulation of 8000 copies, in the series "BdBArgumente" the BdB deals with politically and scientifically relevant topics. Together with the Bundesanzeiger-Verlag , the BdB also publishes the trade journal “Btplus”.

Once a year the BdB meets for its annual meeting, during which the delegates' assembly also takes place. Lectures, discussions and workshops determine the program.
