History and purpose of the federal association

The Federal Association of Larynx Operators eV was founded on September 12, 1974 in Aachen . This makes it one of the oldest cancer self-help organizations in Germany. Right from the start, contact was maintained with the German Cancer Aid, which was also founded in 1974. Since then, the association has stood up for the concerns of larynx surgery patients and their relatives. According to its statutes, it acts selflessly. It pursues exclusively charitable and charitable purposes. He works out of ecumenical and humanitarian responsibility, and that without party political ties. The organization is regarded as a competent partner when discussing health policy problems in Germany and internationally. In addition, the federal association has set up a network of partially operated persons within the association in order to be able to respond more specifically to the needs of those affected.

Board and membership

The federal board is elected for four years. He works on a voluntary basis . The members of the federal executive board are all affected or have cancer (affected competence ).

The association's office is located in the House of Cancer Self-Help in Bonn and has three full-time employees in 2015.

financing

The association's financial basis essentially consists of third-party funding. Private donations, inheritances and supporting members are solicited in order to preserve independence and neutrality in the interests of cancer patients.
