Bunheiro is a place and a municipality in northern Portugal .

history

Bunheiro belonged to the district of Couto de Antuã , which in 1257 by King D. Afonso III. had been given to the Arouca monastery . In the registers of 1420 the place was still noted as Boinheiro or Boynheiro .

The municipality has since belonged to the Estarreja administrative district . On October 29, 1926, the community was incorporated into the newly founded Murtosa district.
