Bunker Kagel
The Kagel bunker (also: Kagel radio transmission center ) was the first bunker built in the GDR . Its construction began in the late 1950s and was completed in 1961. Its 3 floors were initially used for the installation of all technology and as accommodation for the staff. The first floor formed the ground floor above the ground, the second and third floors were below the surface. Its footprint was approx. 35 x 50 m. After the completion of a new accommodation and farm building in the early 1970s and the reconstruction of the bunker, changes in use occurred. The bunker with its ancillary equipment was an element of the main news center of the MfNV in Strausberg . Geographically, it was about 12 km south of Strausberg between the villages of Lichtenow and Kagel. Parallel to the construction of the bunker , a residential building for the professional soldiers and their families was built not far from the office, directly at the entrance to Kagel . The entire area of the radio transmission center was equipped with a high-voltage safety system (HSA), i. H. an electric fence , secured.
Use at that time
The bunker with its ancillary systems served as the radio transmission center for the main news center of the MfNV. The total area of the radio transmission center was approx. 40 ha. The largest part was used as an antenna field for the installation and use of 40 different types of antenna systems, including underground ones. In the front part of the antenna field there was a 32 m steel lattice mast for the reception of antennas for the VHF radio and radio relay systems . In the rear part there were two remote transmission points in steel tanks with a superstructure and the HptNZ ammunition depot .

Radio transmitters with a power of up to 5 kW were used in the radio transmission center. They were remote-controlled from the radio reception center of the Strausberg bunker or made available for use by other departments. To ensure remote control, a transmission technology service (ÜTD) was available as a structural element, which formed the communication channels for communication with the Strausberg bunker as well as the touch and modulation lines for remote control of the transmitters. The news channels were made available in the district cable 10 of the Deutsche Post and via the radio relay system FM 24-400. The radio transmission center was connected to the center for communication of touch and modulation lines , a bunker structure in the community of Kunersdorf . The center for tactile and modulation lines also had to fulfill the function as a radio transmission center for the Harnekop bunker .
The transmission technology used came mainly from the production of VEB Funkwerk Köpenick . Mostly KN 1E and KSS 1300 transmitters were used. Outside the secure area, south of the location of the bunker, was the recreation center of the main news center [HptNZ], consisting of two wooden bungalows, a stone barrack with lounges and a sauna, next to it with an in Own contribution by the soldiers created swimming pools.
Todays use
