The Bunker Cave is a stalactite cave in Iserlohn - Grüne . It is located in the mass limestone of the upper Middle Devon and belongs to the Bunker-Emst cave system of the Green Valley.
The cave was discovered in 1926 when Reichsstraße 7 was widened. The entrance is at 184 m above sea level . During the Second World War it was used as an air raid shelter after it was blown up . At this time the cave also got its name.
In 1992 the Letmathe Speleo group discovered further parts, the known total length of which was almost 2000 m. In September of the same year this interest group discovered a connection to the Emst cave .
Also in 1992, skeletal remains of a Pleistocene reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) were found in a crack in the ceiling of the millipede hall . This was one of the most complete cave finds of its kind in Germany.
