Bunsan (full throne name Somdet Brhat Chao Dharma Adi Varman Maha Sri Bunyasena Jaya Setha Adiraja Chandrapuri Sri Sadhana Kanayudha ; * in Vientiane in the early 18th century ; † in November 1781 ) was the third king of the Laotian empire Vientiane between 1767 and 1779 and 1780/81 .

Bunsan was the second son of King Sai Setthathirath II and was initially called Prince ( Chaofa ) Ungabunya (Ong Bun). Between 1735 and 1767 he was governor of Chiang Khoang. After his older brother, Ong Long (ruled 1730-1767), died, Bunsan succeeded him to the throne. He was actively supported by Phra Vo , a prominent member of the Suvarnkut family .

In 1777 the King of Annam (today's Vietnam) attacked Vientiane and besieged the capital. After four months this fell into the hands of the Vietnamese in 1779, but Bunsan was able to flee to the jungle of Mahachai Kung Kaeo, where he surrendered to the Siamese under their king Taksin . Most of his descendants were then sent to Thonburi as hostages . In 1780 he attacked the Siamese in Vientiane, killed the governor Phraya Supho , who was appointed by them, and was finally killed by the Siamese himself in 1781.
