The Bunya Highway is a trunk road in the southeast of the Australian state of Queensland . It connects the Burnett Highway (A3) in Goomeri with the D'Aguilar Highway (S96) in Kingaroy and the Warrego Highway (NA2) in Dalby .
The highway marked as State Road 49 is the continuation of the Moonie Highway (S49) to the northeast, or the continuation of the Wide Bay Highway (S49) to the southwest. It is named after the Bunya Mountains and the national park of the same name near Kumbia . These in turn got their name from the Queensland araucaria ( Araucaria bidwilli ), which is often found there , and is also called the Bunya Bunya tree .
In 2008, the junction with the Burnett Highway was rebuilt so that traffic flows towards Murgon more easily.
The highest point on the highway is 732 m, the lowest is 258 m. The maximum gradient is over 10%.
