Gröbzig Castle , also called Gröbzig Castle , is the remainder of a castle in Gröbzig in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt and is only preserved today through the castle tower. In the local register of monuments , the building is recorded as a monument under registration number 094 09930 .
history
In 1291 an Anhalt bailiff had his seat at the castle. The castle was mentioned in a document when Prince Otto III transferred goods . von Bernburg to his wife Lutrud von Querfurt . The structure was hardly damaged during the Thirty Years War . In the town fire of 1675 the dome of the tower was badly damaged and in 1678 it was replaced by a baroque dome and today's half-timbered storey .
1809 was the castle, which stood empty since 1784, down to the dungeon of the 14th century removed, also called Mauseturm. The stones of the castle were used by the Jewish community when building a cemetery at the foot of the Acacia Mountain. The castle tower was used by young people as a station for young naturalists during the GDR era . Today (as of 2015) the headquarters of the Groebziger Heimatverein is in the tower.
