Ottweiler Castle
The Ottweiler castle was a castle dating back to the Renaissance in the Saarland town Ottweiler , district Neunkirchen .
As the seat of the Counts of Saarbrücken , there was already a moated castle in 1186 . In 1393, "Palace, Castle and Vorburg " were first mentioned in a document.
In 1550 Ottweiler became the residence of the Counts of Nassau-Ottweiler , and Count Albrecht von Nassau-Weilburg then had a renaissance castle built by the master builder Christmann Strohmeyer . It was a four-wing building with four floors. The inner courtyard was particularly characterized by the surrounding galleries of the open arcades . The castle chapel was in the corner tower .
The castle was badly damaged during the Thirty Years War and subsequently stood empty before it was demolished in 1753.
