The Pretzetze Castle is an abandoned medieval low castle of the type of a tower hill castle (Motte) in Pretzetze in Lower Saxony . It is a castle stable , as no remains of the facility that are visible above have survived.
The castle was located on a 42 × 39 meter plateau that still exists today, rising about 2 to 3 meters from the Elbe valley . Today the slightly elevated space is on the road between Grippel and Laase on the outside of the Elbe. In the area of the castle there is a former forester's house, which is now used as a residential building. The castle site is partially covered by a dike reinforcement carried out in the 19th century.
The castle was first mentioned in 1330 under the name "hus de pritzeze". During the War of the Lüneburg Succession (1370-1389), it was besieged and captured in 1376 by the troops of Charles IV using firearms. Then the castle was rebuilt and belonged to Dannenberg Castle .
