The Ruppertstein Castle is the ruins of a hilltop castle on 452 m above sea level. NN near the place Lemberg in the Verbandsgemeinde Pirmasens-Land in the district of Südwestpfalz in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is located at the height of the Ruppertstein south of the village of Ruppertsweiler .
Little is known about the history of the castle, which was probably built in the early 13th century. The history of the castle began with the acquisition of the mountain on which it was built by Count Heinrich I von Zweibrücken in 1198. It was either destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1525 or left to decay earlier.
Around 1900 a stone staircase was built on the rock to reach the platform of the castle rock to use it as a lookout point. This stone staircase was renovated in 2007 by the Pirmasens Land Association. It is likely that a wooden staircase once led into the castle.
