Chris Cagle
Chris Cagle (born November 10, 1968 in DeRidder , Louisiana ) is an American country singer . His biggest hit was the number one single I Breathe In, I Breathe Out . In 2015 he ended his career.
Career
The son of an Exxon executive lived in DeRidder, Louisiana until the age of four and then moved with his family to the suburbs of Houston , Texas. Cagle began to take guitar lessons at the age of six, but gave them up after a while because his hands were too small for the classical concert guitar. He began playing the piano during high school and soon picked up the guitar again.
Cagle enrolled at the University of Texas at Arlington , but began to spend more and more time performing nightly in clubs until he quit his studies at 19 to devote himself entirely to music. In 1994 he moved to Nashville , Tennessee, and worked on his songwriting there, with the help of songwriter Harlan Howard, who eventually released Cagle's first song.
A few years later, Cagle met the producer Donna Duarte, whom he invited to attend the recording of some demo tapes. Duarte then presented Cagle's songs to her employer Scott Hendricks, the president of Virgin Records Nashville, who signed Cagle.
When Virgin Records closed its country division, Cagle moved to Capitol Records in Nashville, where he released his first album Play it Loud in 2001 . This was followed by his first No. 1 hit in the country charts with the song I Breathe In, I Breathe Out and other albums in 2003 and 2005.
Cagle's fourth studio album, My Life's Been a Country Song , was released in February 2008. In 2012, his last album, Back in the Saddle, followed .
In May 2008, Cagle was arrested in Nashville for assaulting his girlfriend. He was arrested again in December 2013. This time he was accused of driving a car while drunk.
