The castle Talmberk (German: Burg Talenberg, castle Talmberg (1297), Castle Metals Berg) is a medieval castle ruins east of Sázava in Talmberk in Kutná Hora District in the Central Bohemian Region in the Czech Republic .
location
The ruin of the hilltop castle is located on a mountain ledge slightly above the valley in the middle of Talmberk. In the north lies the ridge; the terrain slopes steeply to the east, south and west.
history
Either the castle was built by Arnoist von Kouniců (German: Kaunitz) or by Hrozniata von Auzicz (today: Úžice u Kutné Hory), who was the burgrave of the Prague Castle and, for his services, Wenceslas II with the area north of the Sázava around Úžice u Kutné Hory was rewarded. The castle is first mentioned in 1297 when Vilem von Talmberk is mentioned. In 1390 Diviš von Talmberk (German: Diwisch) was lord of the castle. Havel Medek von Valdek conquered the castle in the same year and took Diviš prisoner. In 1397 Diviš had to be released after the decision of the provincial court and got his castle back. In 1533 the castle is considered abandoned.
Houses were built on the castle area especially in the 18th and 19th centuries. In 1933 part of the main tower collapsed; then more was removed to ensure the safety of the villagers.
investment
Most of the castle is on various private properties. The rectangular inner courtyard was supplemented by a tower in the northeast, a residential building in the south, and an outer bailey in the north, which was separated from the main castle by a moat . Today only remnants of the curtain wall and the tower are preserved.
