Reinhold Boetzel

Reinhold Bötzel (born December 8, 1975 in Kirchheim unter Teck , Baden-Württemberg ) is a German disabled athlete .

Career

Reinhold Bötzel works as a retail salesman. Despite his handicap from an arm amputation , he became a member of the Rot-Weiß Koblenz sports club , where he competed in athletics . Among the sports within athletics, he selected the relay race over 4 by 100 meters and above all the high jump , both in the T46 performance class .

Because of his achievements, he was used in national and international competitions. He competed at the European Championships for the disabled from 2001 to 2019. He took 1st place in 2001 and 2014, and 2nd place in high jump in 2005 and 2016.

He also participated successfully as a high jumper in the World Championships in 2002, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2011. In 2002 and 2009 he was world champion, 2007 vice world champion. The highlight of his sporting career was his participation in the 2000 Paralympic Summer Games in Sydney . Here he won a bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m relay and was awarded the silver laurel leaf by Federal President Johannes Rau .
