Tennenlohe Castle

The Burg Tennenlohe is an Outbound High Middle Turmhügelburg (moth) on an elevated terrain immediately southwest of the lock Tennenlohe (Castle Lane 7) in Tennenlohe , a current area of Erlangen in Bayern .

history

The castle was first mentioned in 1265 with Conradus de Tenninloch in a document from Burgrave Konrad II when a property was donated to Engelthal Abbey. In 1395 Ulrich III. Haller von Hallerstein confirmed part of his numerous possessions by the Nuremberg Regional Court, including "the Burckstall and Gütlein zu Tennenlohe", and in 1398 he received it from the Burgraves a. a. "The whale and three good to the Tenneloe" to fief . "Wal" stands for "Burgstall", the place of a lost seat. As a castle or margravial fiefdom, this complex remained in the possession of the Haller until 1463 and was then sold to the Löffelholz .

Only the circular tower hill remains from the former moth enclosure on an elevated terrain above the hat ditch.
