The Burgan Sports Club ( Arabic نادي برقان الرياضي, DMG Nādī Burqān ar-riyāḍī ) is a sports club founded in 2007 and based in the Kuwaiti governorate al-Farwaniyya . The football division currently plays in Kuwaiti Division One .

history

The beginning

Before Burgan registered as a club, the club had already played in many friendly matches and tournaments. There were, among other things, several games against the team of the Kuwait Oil Company and against universities such as the American University of Kuwait and Kuwait University . The team scored their first victory in 2011. The last game as an unregistered team was against the Kuwait Military Gov. FC ; the game was lost 3-2.

They also started to scout and build up several U-teams. All boys aged 9 to 12 were automatically sorted into the U-12 due to the small number of players.

Participation in competitions since 2014

Before the start of the actual season, a few test matches were played against established teams and two unofficial tournaments were played during Ramadan 2014. The first game was lost 5-0 against al-Nasr . The first goal came in a 4-1 loss to al-Arabi , scored by Marzouq Zaki . The first victory came on September 7, 2014 against al-Jahra with the final result of 3: 2. For the first time a draw then against al-Kuwait on September 21.

In January they were in 4th place in the league. Then on the 25th, the club signed a loan deal for the first time, in this case with goalkeeper Yousef Al-Saraff , and there was also an option to buy in the summer. After a large number of defeats at that time, Rashid Abdullah Al-Bous demanded back to return to victory.

After the end of the first season, the club took part in the Kuwait Federation Cup 2014/15 . This one could finish in group A in 5th place before al-Qadsia and al-Nasr. On May 7, 2015 it was announced that Burgan would be attending a training camp in Italy . On October 27, the club's management had problems making a profit from the previous season's budget. 40% of management disagreed with goals, which made the shape of the 2015/16 Federation Cup problematic. The first game in the Kuwait Emir Cup was against al-Tadhamon , that game was also won 1-0, the goal was scored by Tarik Lugman . Fayez Frieh was introduced as the new coach on November 15th .

On September 6, 2016, it was announced that Burgan would participate in the league again with the start of the 2016/17 season , together with the new coach Hamad Al Harbi . The team played the first historic game in the Kuwaiti Premier League against al-Nasr, which they also lost 2-0. At least the first goal was scored on the next match day, but the game itself against al-Shabab was also lost 5-1. But in the next week it was possible to win 1-0 against al-Fahaheel .

In total, only 2 more wins and a total of 21 defeats should come, which led to the team having to accept relegation with only 11 points at the end of the season. The following season Burgan was able to finish at least in 4th place. In the following season even only the 5th and thus last place was possible. At the moment the club is still playing in Division One.

volleyball

The club joined the Kuwait Volleyball League in 2014. Due to the low budget, the start of the team was postponed one season. The first match was played on November 3, 2015 against al-Arabi; the game was lost 3-0. The biggest win so far was a 50:15 over al-Jahra.

beach volleyball

In April 2016 she joined the Beach Volleyball League and won her first match after three games on April 19 against al-Fahaheel 2-0. The first season was then finished in 5th place.

Handball

Burgan made his first appearance in handball when he joined the Kuwait Handball League in 2014/15 and took part in the Handball Federation Cup. The first game was against Kuwait SC, which was lost 19:33. On February 3, 2015 against Khaitan, a victory was achieved for the first time.
