The Burgstall Gugerell is located in the Oberndorf district of the municipality of Meggenhofen in the Grieskirchen district of Upper Austria (Oberndorf No. 9).

history

A Ditmarus de Gugrel is mentioned for the first time in 1222. The message comes from 1396: “Hanns Aistershamer has the vest of Gugrell as a fief”. When the Aistershamers died out in 1426, the seat was transferred to the Hohenfelder. Hans Hohenfelder was a carer at Starhemberg Castle in Haag am Hausruck . The following message dates from 1434: "Wolfgang der Hohenfelder prescribes his housewife the Haws zu Gugrel including the Pawhof there vnd two, so one of the hewsern as a counterpoint and morning gift". In 1465 it is recorded in a document, "Jörg Hohenvelder zu Aistershaim has the Sicz zu Gugrelt and the Vischwaid on the Otnisch". Further news about Gugerell is missing.

The earth structure at the "Mayer in Gugrel" property has meanwhile been largely leveled. The current courtyard is a completely new building. During construction work, underground corridors, which are said to have been "pointed arch", were cut to the west and south of the courtyard.
