Burkhard Schuchmann

Burkhard Schuchmann (* 1942 in Berlin ) is a German industrial manager. He was CEO of Vossloh and runs a winery in Georgia .

Life

Burkhard Schuchmann began his professional career in 1969 as assistant to the board at Bayerische Elektrizitätswerke in Munich , a subsidiary of Lechwerke . He later took over their commercial management and thus became the youngest authorized signatory in the parent company RWE . In 1978 he switched to the medium- sized Knürr GmbH and supported the company's IPO .

Meanwhile CFO of Knürr AG, he moved in 1986 as managing director to the Sauerland medium-sized company Vossloh, where he was trained by the senior boss at the time and had little freedom of choice. Subsequently, he was given a largely free hand, consistently converted the highly diversified company into a specialist in railway technology and, after being converted into a stock corporation in 1990, went public . At the end of 2005 he resigned from his position as CEO . A power struggle or disagreements with the supervisory board were assumed to be reasons for this step . Due to construction measures and the associated growth rate had almost versechzigfacht under the leadership Schuch's enterprise value, while sales of around 90 million euro rose to around 1 billion euros.

In summer 2006 he became a partner at the private equity company One Equity Partners. Shortly thereafter, the purchase of a winery in Georgia and the establishment of Schuchmann Wines followed . The winery, which is around 50 kilometers as the crow flies from South Ossetia , was described by the then agriculture minister as a “model company” and “best-run winery”.

In early 2011 Schuchmann became managing director of the newly founded investment company Alternative Rail Investments AG. The purpose of the company was to finance new local trains with new concepts.
