James Gavet (born October 19, 1989 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand rugby league player.
Career
Gavet initially played junior rugby for Ponsby and the Richmond Bulldogs before the New Zealand Warriors signed him. He completed 18 games for the Warriors in the National Youth Competition in 2009 , in which he put two attempts before he switched to the Auckland Vulcans , the then farm team of the Warriors in the New South Wales Cup . In 2011 he was voted Prop of the Year in the NSW Cup and made it to the Grand Final with the Vulcans, in which the Vulcans lost to the second team of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs with 28:30. After the Grand Final, he signed a two-year deal with the Bulldogs.
In 2012, Gavet made his NRL debut against the Brisbane Broncos in round 23 . It would be his only game for the Bulldogs. On December 12th, he signed a one-year contract with the Wests Tigers .
Gavet missed the entire 2013 season due to a foot injury. In 2014 he took part with the Tigers in the first edition of the NRL Auckland Nines and made his debut for the Tigers in Round 1 against the St. George Illawarra Dragons . On lap 19 he made his first NRL attempt against the Bulldogs. It was to be his only attempt in 12 games.
On October 13, 2014, he broke his contract to move to the Brisbane Broncos can. After his first game in 2015, he was suspended for three games due to a warning. During this forced break in the game, he injured his cruciate ligament during training and is therefore unable to play for the rest of the season.
